UNITED NATION OF BULLIES

I woke up on friday to hear the drum of war. Designed to coincide with the beginning of olympic, it was a well thought out strategy. As the man that started the war puts it: "We chose the time of the offensive to coincide with the olympic opening ceremony and summer holiday because we know that most of the decision makers will be on holiday or olympic opening ceremony".

Wondering who thinks that way, I discovered that there is only one culprit, USA. USA has sent some 1000 military personell to Georgia some 1month before the invasion with Condolisa Rice guaranteeing US support for invasion of the defenseless 70000 people in South Ossetia. Unfortunately, it was the most reckless decision you can make at Russian doorstep.

Knowingfully well that US has a special interest in that strait and with the continual enchroachment by NATO and EU trying to surround Russia with military arsenal, the Moscow has being waiting to show that as much as they are not interested in any international conflict, nothing will stop them from decisively dealing with any country that mess up at there doorstep. Unfortunately Georgia is the US pawn this time.

Having entered into treaty with South Ossetia & Abkhazia with Russia insuring that any deviation from the agreement will be dealt with decisively, but US stoog that leads Georgia, President Mikhail Saakashvili, didn't appreciate the might and seriousness of Moscow on the issue. Couple with the unilateral declaration of independence by Kosovo, and consequent massive approval by the US, EU and all of their allies, Moscow & China made it clear that the west is breaking the primary tenet of UN agreement on sovereignity. The simple explanation given by the supporter of Kosovo's independence is that the case is unique and it is going to happen this once. Unfortunately, precedence is an important part of law and UN is as strong as the precedence and history that it holds.

On 080808, when Georgia started bombarding South Ossetia capital Tskhivali, Moscow quickly convey an emergency UN meeting to force Georgia to withdraw but US blocked the bill hoping they can buy time for Georgia and achieve their ultimate aim of controlling all critical north atlantic oil pipeline route, one thing that Russia knows. But the reckless stoog that leads innocent people of Georgia proceeded with his ambition and invaded South Ossetia despite the warning from Russia.

For what it worths, Russia decided to show the whole world that United Nation and it's security council is nothing more than assembly of bullies with their interest. They decided to deal with Georgia decisively in such a manner that if they hear war, they will say never. As much as it is painful that the innocent people are dying, I believe we are already moving close to fulfilment of the prophecy of Boutros Boutros-Ghali (former UN Sec Gen) that "Very soon UN will split up and a new world order will take over".

I can't wait to see this prophesy coming to fulfilment ASAP cos we cannot continue to have the Western & Eastern Imperials dominating and committing attrocities hoping that no one can check them. I hope it's not just in my dreams....

And to the Georgians, I can't wait to see you kick out that beast of a president for somebody that care for your life.

When luck makes the difference

I couldn't help but to pity Avram Grant tonight. Showing how good a coach he is, turning around the champios league final against great coach like Alex Ferguson, you can't ask for anything more from an unwanted coach. But after doing all that is expected from a great coach, his team still went ahead to loose... I can't help but to wonder why some people always loose no matter how well they try.

Taking over Chelsea team managerial role in September, he couldn't help but to go into defensive because no one like or wanted him. He did all he could to transformed the club from a struggling team at the beginning of the season to a title contender in line for treble. He almost succeeded, but every time he had a chance at cup, something drastic happens and like a vapous, it just disappears into thin air.

The big question then is, are some people born lucky? The obvious answer is yes. They always have the needed luck when it matters. Yes, you still need to be discipline to get to the top. But, you must not forget that a little spice of luck can make a hell of a different.

Now you are asking me of what to do if you have being unlucky in the past. Well, the simple answer is that continue working had while praying and waiting for your day to come. I know that Avram Grant has being unlucky this season. He has nonetheless become an important player in the European football and the pundit that were shouting crucify him yesterday are already asking if he might be the messiah they've being looking for.

It might take some time to make pact with luck, but if you can just stay there, luck will surely show up when you least expect. And you'll become the next fairy tale...

What about Man United that is lucky today? CONGRATULATIONSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS...

Vision, Courage and Tenacity

I wonder what a decent man like me is doing at this time of the night on his computer. Maybe I just felt like move on to the next stage without the baggage that that should be dropped on this current level that I am.

I have always have a vision of being one of the most priviledged people in whatsoever society I find myself. This is surely not more than what people will term day-dreaming. Believing I can shoot for the star in another galaxy, I decided to start by shooting for the stars in my current galaxy. Two months I tried my shots and could see myself improving with each shot get me closer to accuracy before I finally hit one of the main target in the constellation.

I have decided to work in Front office part of investment banking organisation but have had my own share of failure. I could remember one of the most painful interview I had in with one of the companies that tickle my fancy. After performing and enjoying the interview, the company came back to me through my agent with this word

"We are really impressed with your performance. You have a character that suggests that you will be able to work well with the traders. But, we noticed some knowledge gap and will therefore not be taking this further with you. We wish you best of success in your future endeavour. "

This brought a downtime to my life and couldn't help but to doubt my ability. But for some of my friends that believe in me and encouraged me to focus my energy on the goal and move on, I will have settled for less. With there encouragement, I courageously move towards my goal and at the time I didn't expected it, I got my accuracy right.

At the time I was carrying out the pursuit of my goal, many of the people that heard of the target I set for myself were assuming that this is a very tall order that might be out of my reach. I remembered having to argue with one of the recruitment consultant on the price I placed on myself, he was like you are overpricing yourself. Now that I have cross another hurdle, I'll encourage another visionary out there with these words:

NO MATTER HOW LOFTY YOUR VISION IS, IF YOU HAVE THE COURAGE TO PURSUE IT, AND YOU TENACIOUSLY FOLLOW IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT , THE CHANCE WILL FAVOUR YOU(COS YOU ARE PREPARED)

Obi - Another Child From Anambra

My joy knows no bound today when I read news of Obi's tenure extension victory in the Nigerian media this morning. Since the victory was won in the Supreme Court, this has become a landmark victory that is going to change Nigerian Politics for good.

I have being told about Nigerian fraudulent activities time and time over again. But, I have an answer in One Man, PETER OBI. The most interesting part of the story is that this man is unknown until 1993 when he decided to run for Governorship position in Anambra state.

A soft-spoken man, Peter Obi is an intelligent man. A man of class and determination, he began a new order in Anambra state politics by becoming the first civilian governor that can truthful say that I won the mandate because people love me and believe in me.

During the campaign for the 1993 election, Peter Obi was an house hold name. It was so interesting that the first word of a growing child is likely to be "Peter Obi for Governor". Although Peter was well loved by his people, the system will not want him to take over the helm of affair of the state. WHY, HE REFUSED TO BE A SLAVE TO THE GODFATHER.

Despite the injustice done to him, he worked relentlessly to ensure that the election fraud did not lead to chaos in the state. I remember watching him on a television program where he was asked about his mandate, below are his words:
"On my way to attend this program, I ran into some gang of armed robbers who ordered me to come down from my car. Immediately they saw my face, there countenance changed. At that point, one of them said 'OGA, YOU SEE NOW THAT IT IS NOT ONLY US THAT ROBS. WE WISH WE CAN HAVE GOOD GOVERNOR THAT WILL HELP US BUILD THE STATE. MAYBE WE CAN FIND A DECENT JOB AND STOP ROBBING GOOD PEOPLE LIKE YOU'.
As usual, he smiled and told them he'll do whatsoever he can to reclaim his mandate and rebuild the state.

4years down the road, I can say this man has fought all his wars in an exemplary manner, thereby increasing the number of Anambarians that are showing the way as ROLE MODELS. In his 4years of struggle, he never uses violence to achieve any of his aims. He has fought his wars by reposing his confidence in judicial means This is a mark of courage and resolve - An unequal character that is hard to find in many of our leaders.

Finally, Obi has turned himself to a LEGEND in Nigerian legal history, becoming the first civilian governor to establish the rightful duration of governors term in office changing the start date and end date from the conventional 29 May.

ONE GOOD LESSON I LEARNT FROM HIM IS THAT WITH VISION AND COURAGE YOU CAN CHANGE THE COURSE OF HISTORY.

CONGRATULATIONS MR PETER OBI...

LONG LIVE ANAMBRA STATE, LONG LIVE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, MAY GOD HELP US TO GRACEFUL DEFEND OUR DEMOCRACY - AMEN.

Agidimolaja Awo Ile Ife

It is interesting the way the word of our elders came back to me. Maybe because this week have proved more difficult than I really prepared for.

I have agreed to help a friend out with some money thinking that there is sufficient fund in my account. But checking back, I discovered that what is at hand was too small for my liking. Unfortunately, the rent payment is due and my friend from Iran has came down to UK thinking that I will be able to give the money he'll need for the next few days he'll be spending in Iran.

It was a terrible situation for me that I have to tell one of my dream company that I was not interested in the position they wanted to interview me for. This was a crazy situation but was unbelievably true.

Then, I remembered that instead of putting all this problem in my head, talking to my friends to shot me out might help. So, I started asking my friends to see if there is anything they can do. The first person I asked agreed to give me 150pounds. The second agreed to give me 200pounds. The third gave me 200pounds and like joke, the 750pounds that look like a very big money suddenly become a very small money.

I still have 200pounds more to raise in other to meet my payment obligation. I must nonetheless admit that the reality of how much a true friend worth cannot be quantified.

This funny situation made me to appreciate the proverb of our land:

Agidimolaja awo ile ife , Awo ni oun gbe awo nigbonwo, t'awo ko ba gbawo nigbon wo, Awo a fo, awo aya.

Eyin omo iya, ese ooo

THE BEST I CAN BE

I wanted to feel among, to do what others do,
So I can feel like others, and mix with others
Time again and again, I failed
Because I am me, and the best I can be IS ME.

I was at my company party, the night after the valentine. It was a disco kind of party that started on a low key but gather momentum to become like a standard club. With alcohol flowing like water, smokes going up the heaven like on the days of tabernacle, IT SUDDENLY DON ON ME that I don’t belong there.

It was a fun filled night though, it ended up turning to a nightmare for me. Though everybody in that party loved me and respected me for my discipline, I cant help but to admit that I don’t belong there.

The following morning, I met a Canadian lady(a colleague) that boycotted the party to find out why she didn’t show up at the part. I then realized that she was absent because she didn’t belonged there. And, she successfully saved her night.

The lesson I learnt from this experience is that no matter how much I tried, the best I can be is me. THAT WILL I BE. What about you?

Always Lucky

Some get lucky sometimes, some never, while some few are always lucky. Why don’t I fall in the last category, those people that get lucky all the time. I always love to win but never want to fight, oh I need to be lucky.

I hope u re not reading to yourself. If you are, then this little closing story of how my year went might interest you.

I was a professional working in telecom as a Java Developer until I threw in the towel to in July. It was quite crazy and most of my friends were not too happy about the timing of that decision. A whole ocean of promises and opportunity seems to be around the corner in my former company and leaving at that time was ridiculous. But know what I was looking for, I didn’t give a doubt any chance.

I have considered changing my career early in the year due to stagnancy that forced me to review my life and ask myself what I wanted out of life. After determining what I wanted out of my career, I decided to move to where I can find it. But, as usual, extraordinary dream will always take extraordinary input (determination, vision, discipline, sacrifice, etc).

It is now five month since I resigned from my former company. I now wake up everyday wishing I had resigned earlier. I now appreciate how much change can happen when you define what you are looking out for in life and go after it.

You might be one of those people looking for a way in your career, life, marriage, education or business. But, until u know what u are looking for , you will only be searching for the wind and you already know what the result is.

Let me give u this little advice from Uncle Solo, he says

"The labor of the foolish wearies them because they don’t know how to go to the city".

I don’t believe too much in luck, but if there is anything like luck, I AM ONE OF THOSE GUYS THAT ALWAYS GET LUCKY.

WILL U LIKE TO JOIN ME
